More than 65 private and parochial schools serve the tri-county Charleston metropolian area. Combined with quality public schools in the region, this provides parents with a well-rounded choice of educational opportunities for their children.
It is estimated that approximately 11,200 students in the region attend private and parochial schools.
A great place to start your private school search is with the Tri-County Admissions Council, organize in 1987, it is a group of admissions directors and administrators from twenty independent schools in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties of South Carolina.
This collaborative organization meets monthly for the purpose of discussing relevant admissions topics, legislative issues affecting independent schools and marketing information. The members also visit schools represented on the council to become familiar with the characteristics, educational opportunities and the admissions requirements of each.
